My name is Dean Zemke and my wife’s name is Sue. We are from USA. In 1996, we came to Japan as missionaries. In 2022, we moved to Sapporo to serve as missionaries at Sapporo Bible Baptist Church. We work alongside Pastor Ken Kayashita and his wife Yuu. We are excited to use our combined abilities at the church.

Following are opportunities for us to connect with you:
◆English church meeting – periodically on Sundays from 14：00 to 15：00
If you have conversational English ability or would just like to listen to English, we invite you to attend. (There is no translation into Japanese.) Families are welcome! The service includes singing, a Bible message, and a time of free conversation. (There is no charge.)

◆Sumikawa Kids English – the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month (see below for details)
Target ages: preschool through 4th grade; parents are welcome to attend.
(There is no charge.)
We enjoy teaching English so children can learn counting, alphabet, good pronunciation, and vocabulary. We read a simple English book at each class so the child can hear how English is spoken more than just one word at a time. We also play games which reinforce the lesson. Children can benefit from hearing English and being exposed to foreigners!

◆Japanese church service – weekly on Sundays from 11:00 to 12:15
(no English translation)
The Japanese church service is a time when we sing hymns and listen to a Bible message from the pastor. We welcome anyone to join us!
Although there is no English translation, there are English speakers who look forward to conversing with you. Please visit and experience a Japanese church service!
In addition to Sunday services, we have Bible study and prayer meetings (first Wednesday afternoon of each month from 13:30 and weekly on Thursday evenings from 19:00).
◆Sunday School for children – weekly on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 10:40 (in Japanese)
Target ages: preschool to elementary school students. Parents are also welcome to participate! (There is no charge.)
Each week, we learn about God from the Bible and have fun doing crafts. There are many interesting true stories!
There is also English Time [JOY TIME] during Sunday school with American missionaries. We enthusiastically sing children’s praises and chat with the children in English.
◆6-lesson introductory Bible course – individual studies at a mutually agreeable time
These lessons are taught in English or in Japanese. (There is no charge.)
