My name is Dean Zemke and my wife’s name is Sue. We are from USA. In 1996, we came to Japan as missionaries. In 2022, we moved to Sapporo to serve as missionaries at Sapporo Bible Baptist Church. We work alongside Pastor Ken Kayashita and his wife Yuu. We are excited to use our combined abilities at the church.

Following are opportunities for us to connect with you:
English church service – the first Sunday of each month from 14:30 to 15:30
If you have conversational English ability or would just like to listen to English, we invite you to attend. (There is no translation into Japanese.) Families are welcome! The service includes singing, a Bible message, and a time of free conversation. (There is no charge.)

Sumikawa Kids English – the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 16:00 to 16:45
Target ages: infants through elementary school; parents are welcome to attend
(There is a one-time ¥500 fee; no charge for future classes.)
We enjoy teaching English so children can learn good pronunciation, learn vocabulary, form sentences, and be able to read using the phonics method. We read a simple English book at each class so the child can hear how English is spoken more than just one word at a time. Even young children can benefit from hearing English at a young age and being exposed to foreigners!
●Classes will be held through August 24. (We plan to resume in September 2024.)
Japanese church service – weekly on Sundays from 11:00 to 12:15 (no English translation)
a time where we sing hymns and listen to a Bible message from the pastor. We welcome anyone to join us!
In addition to Sunday services, we have Bible study and prayer meetings (first Wednesday afternoon of each month from 13:30 and weekly on Thursday evenings from 19:00).
Saturday Children’s Club – weekly on Saturdays from 14:30 (in Japanese)
Target ages: kindergarten to elementary school students. Parents are also welcome to participate! (There is no charge.)
Sunday School – weekly on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 10:40 (in Japanese)
English Bible Time [JOY TIME] is also available during Sunday School!
Each week, we will listen to stories about God from the Bible and have fun doing crafts and games.
Target ages: kindergarten to elementary school students. Parents are also welcome to participate! (There is no charge.)
Junior high school/high school class – the 3rd Sunday of each month from 14:30 to 15:30
– a time for students to learn about the Bible and Christianity. (There is no charge.)
6-lesson introductory Bible course – individual studies at a mutually agreeable time
These lessons are taught in English or in Japanese. (There is no charge.)
